Camp 4

The historic Camp 4, home of serious rock climbers for several decades consists of closely spaced tents, scattered gear, bright sunshine due to its southern exposure, and never ending tales of accomplishments and near death experiences.  Not everyone who prepares for a journey on El Capitan or the other great rock walls returns to Camp 4 safely, as the rescue crew housed in the rear of the campground can well attest to.  Every year the rescue team performs heroic deeds; many times a search and rescue turns into search and recovery.
