Half Dome in Late Winter

In late winter, the snows melt erratically off the top and sides of Half Dome, occasionally sending small avalanches into Tenaya Canyon.  If you hike up the Snow Creek Falls trail and go above tree line, (about 1 hour past Mirror Lake for most people), you will have an excellent view of Tenaya Canyon, the face of Half Dome and many seasonal waterfalls.  Be careful if there is snow, ice or mud along the trail past Mirror Lake.
