HETCH HETCHY RESERVOIR

Sometimes referred to as the second Yosemite Valley, the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir fills a beautiful river canyon that John Muir tried to save in an effort to protect the gorgeous scenery and the ecosystem.  Unfortunately, the politicians in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. at the turn of the 20th century prevailed in their efforts to dam the Tuolomne River and change this sister to Yosemite Valley into a reservoir.         Hetch  Hetchy provides the drinking water for San Francisco and other communities in the Bay Area.
