Sentinel Dome

To best enjoy these panoramic shots, sit at least 2 feet away from the screen once they have fully loaded.  The photos will appear much sharper and clearer and you will be able to observe more depth and detail.

In this section you will find several pictures taken along the hike to Sentinel Dome and from the top of the dome.  Easily accessible when Glacier Point Road is open, the trail to this picturesque look out goes gradually uphill until the final few hundred yards.  It's best to walk around to the east side of the dome and ascend along the gentler grade.  Hearty souls will attempt the final thrust from the south east side, but if you are not used to the 8000 foot elevation it can lead to dizziness and shortness of breath rather quickly.
