SUNRISE LAKES

These beautiful lakes are located a few miles south of Tenaya Lake.  Park at the west end of Tenaya Lake at the trailhead.  You'll cross the creek which forms the outlet from Tenaya Lake, then make your way through the woods as you walk south.  It's a strenuous uphill hike to the ridge overlooking Tenaya Canyon.  From this vantage point you can see Clouds Rest next to Half Dome, and turning around you can see Cathedral Peak.  

Enjoy your day in the summer sun, the lakes are quite pleasant in August.  Bring water with you whenever you travel this route.  Some years the creeks dry up very early and you may not have a reliable source of water until you reach the first of the three lakes.
