Yosemite Falls

One of the most beautiful sights on earth is the spectacular plunge of Yosemite Falls as it topples over 2600 vertical feet in three stages down a narrow gorge.  This waterfall generally reaches its peak sometime during the months of April, May and June, depending on the snowfall and snowmelt rates each year.  A steep but clearly marked trail makes its way from Camp 4 to the top of Yosemite Falls in just about 3.5 miles (5.3Km).  Allow 4 to 8 hours for the roundtrip hike and start before 8 am to avoid baking in the hot California sun.  Of all the hikes leading up from the floor of Yosemite Valley this is one of the most challenging, but also one of the most rewarding, especially if you have the strength and time to continue on to Eagle Peak and or to Yosemite Point.
