Yosemite Falls - Upper and Lower Sections

Across the street from Yosemite Lodge is a parking lot and a paved path taking you to this spectacular view of Yosemite Falls. This striking head on perspective makes for one of the most crowded areas in the park on a busy day. For a more enjoyable experience, view the waterfall from Southside Drive along one of the many parking or picnic areas. The walk to the base of Lower Yosemite Falls is much more pleasant either before 9 a.m. or after 7 p.m. Be careful of icy or slippery conditions, the mist from the waterfall coats the pavement the closer you get to the bridge at the base of the falls. It can be very exhilarating to stand on the little bridge, the mist hitting you in the face and the lower fall plunging directly at you. Do not go into the creek to cool off or to rock hop and explore. It looks safe, but it's a very treacherous area no matter what the level of the water.
